Jonathan Gould, Ph.D. is a board-certified forensic psychologist specializing in psychological aspects of family law matters, including child custody and child maltreatment. He has authored or co-authored seven books and several dozen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters addressing child custody matters. He has presented at national and international conferences to mental health professionals, attorneys, and judges for more than three decades.

His most recent book, Child Custody Assessment: Towards a More Evidence-Based Approach (APA, 2026) – co-authored with Chris Mulchay – represents an update and conceptual extension of his previous books, Conducting Scientifically Crafted Child Custody Evaluations and The Art and Science of Child Custody Evaluations (with David Martindale). Dr. Gould is also co-author of Psychological Experts in Divorce Actions (6th and 7th ed) (with Marc Ackerman and Andy Kane. Milfred Dale was a co-author on the 6th edition). Dr. Gould has been licensed in Texas since 2009.
