Navigating the intricate landscape of court-involved families demands a deliberate ethical approach for therapists, evaluators, and parenting facilitators. This webinar offers valuable insights into enhancing the skills of ethical decision-making with the implementation of risk management strategies in this complex field. Participants will learn ways to strike a delicate balance between what it takes to be effective in a forensic role while skillfully avoiding legal pitfalls
The session brings together two expert perspectives:
- An experienced attorney who has represented professionals before Texas state boards, providing crucial legal insights.
- A seasoned psychologist specializing in forensics who was appointed by the governor to serve on the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) and the Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC).
This unique combination of legal and psychological expertise will ensure the opportunity to learn how to implement comprehensive ethical practices and risk management techniques. Attendees will gain practical knowledge to navigate the challenges of working with court-involved families while maintaining professional integrity and legal compliance.
Presenters
Susan Fletcher, Ph.D.
Susan is a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), author, forensic consultant, work-product reviewer, and testifying expert who presents at national conferences and provides training to mental health professionals, attorneys, and judges on topics related to working with court-involved families. Dr. Fletcher is appointed by courts to conduct reunification and family therapy, child custody evaluations, and psychological assessments. From 2017 to 2021 Dr. Fletcher was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve as a board member for the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychology (TSBEP) the regulating board for the practice of psychology and the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) which serves to ensure behavioral health services are provided by qualified and competent practitioners who adhere to established professional standards.
Kenda Brashear Dalrymple, JD is the Managing Partner of Dalrymple, Shellhorse, Ellis & Diamond, L.L.P. (DSED) and in that role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm. Mrs. Dalrymple received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Baylor University and her law degree from Baylor University School of Law. She began her legal career at Davis & Davis, P.C. and spent nearly ten years practicing insurance defense and administrative law. When she moved her practice to Brown & Carls, L.L.P. in 2001. Brown & Carls, L.L.P. turned into Carls, McDonald & Dalrymple, L.L.P. and finally evolved into the current firm, which remains one of the oldest woman-owned law firms in Austin.
